Professional Headshots
Welcome! In this guide you’ll be able to explore headshot backdrops, locations, and styles and find information on what to wear and how to prepare for your session.
Take a look through the portfolio and consider which styles you prefer. Are there background colors that you gravitate toward? Do you prefer formal or informal poses? Do you want a tightly cropped photo or do you prefer a full-body image?
After you select the background and pose you prefer, take a look through the style guide and FAQs, which can help ensure your look is polished and the session is smooth.

What to Wear
Rich colors for blouses or dresses or a white button-down shirt and tie for headshots create a great professional impression.
Blouses or dresses with sleeves that hit below the elbow (unless you absolutely love to show off your arms!) photograph nicely. Be sure to wear undergarments that do not require constant adjustment or reveal shoulder straps.
Solid-color shirts and slacks and crisp button-down shirts always look sharp. If you are looking for a more formal look, consider a full suit with a pocket square. Please shave or trim your beard before the session.

How will I be posed?
My job is to help make you look fabulous. If you prefer, you can show up with no preparation and I’ll provide all the direction about posing naturally.
Before we start the session, we’ll discuss poses for any specific image needs, including commercial or website use or school photos before your session. Consider whether you need a close-cropped headshot, or whether you prefer a full upper-body image.
How can I best communicate what I want?
We will have a video consultation 1-2 weeks before your session to discuss your likes/dislikes and what you want to achieve with your headshots. You can also e-mail images of headshots you like and wardrobe questions or photos prior to your session.
Do you have a makeup artist and hair stylist?
Yes. We have a fabulous team of makeup artists and hair stylists. Meet our team here.
What’s the next step?
If you haven’t done so already, let’s schedule a consultation to discuss your selections and solidify the shoot details. Contact me to do so.
